Small businesses are moving beyond having a presence on social media, especially on Facebook. For three years in a row Facebook pages have surpassed websites as the most popular used ad channel for small businesses. SMBs are not just invested in a presence on Facebook. According to our Local Commerce Monitor™ survey of small businesses they also use ads, video and sponsored stories at a high rate. In our survey we asked SMBs why they use social media and the majority say because it is easy to use and more effective for customer communication. They rate views and revenue from ads as the highest measure of success. Small businesses see a strong ROI on their investment in Facebook advertising (videos, ads, sponsored stories) and spend for the same reasons. With small businesses using more and more ad channels, the use of multiple Facebook ads is not surprising and we will continue to see the usage increase on channels where they see their investment is driving sales.
